Off to Bali again? Well, why not. We were going to go to Morocco to visit my nephew in Marrakesh, but he up and moved to Cuba! So with this great deal we get From Escapes Unlimited ($1000 for round trip air on Singapore Air, plus 5 nights in a nice hotel) we decided to go back and explore more of Bali and also the island of Java.
We'll be arriving in Ubud on Thanksgiving night, just in time for dinner. Crispy Balinese duck and black rice pudding will be on the menu.
Luckily, we will be in Bali during their biggest festival, Galungan, which is when the ancestors come down for 10 days and hang out with the relatives. We've been invited by some Balinese friends to come to their temple with them, so that should be quite an experience. There are temple festivals almost everyday that we'll be on Bali.
We also plan on going to Java for five days; to Yogyacarta, Borobudur and Solo. Borobudur is the world's largest Buddhist temple. Yogyacarta and Solo are two large, but very cultural cities in central Java.
